In the previous blog post, I introduced the viewpoints of Sigmund Freud and Carl Jung on theology. Recently, I’ve discovered two great videos on Carl Jung and his ideas on psychology. One is a video clip from a BBC series that talks about Christianity and its development. The other is a complete interview with Carl Jung during the later part of his life. In this interview, he expresses his view on Freudian psychology and dives into the deep question of religion.
While I appreciate your research, I am afraid I don’t have the hour it’d take me to watch these. Perhaps, in the future, a brief synopsis?
Basically, Jung is talking about the subconscious tendency humans have to want to believe in a higher power. He’s saying that this tendency becomes something important in coming in tune with oneself, especially when one becomes old. Also, he speaks of death and confesses a belief in the afterlife as something psychological.
